Diseases are omnipresent in aquatic systems, and as any living organism, are susceptible to them. In this symposium, we want to update the audience with state-of-the-art knowledge on protocols and findings for the study of recent or re-discovered algal pathosystems, for a better understanding on such ecological- and economically-relevant interactions.
“Viruses of algae: friends or foes?”
“Biodiversity of red algal parasites: from species identification to parasite origin”
“Metabolomic insights into parasite diseases of phytoplankton”
“Understanding resistance to diseases in brown algae: From cell plasticity towards high-throughput phenotyping”
